Perched atop the northernmost tip of the island of Kauai, the Kilauea Lighthouse is home to a national wildlife sanctuary. This is an ideal location for both birdwatching and - during the winter season - whale watching. We spent several hours at the lighthouse on our first visit, watching the albatross, frigatebirds, Nene, and other species soar overhead as the great waves crashed against the cliffs below.
