It was a frigid February afternoon on the northern coast of Orcas Island when I went walking along the shoreline seeking out subjects to photograph. I captured the motion of the incoming tide as it swallowed the exposed boulders along the shore. Later that day an unexpected snowstorm hit, cutting our mid-winter island escape short.
